YouTuber Beauty Books.

You probably already know who Tanya Burr and Fleur are if you watch YouTube videos and read blogs, and chances are you already know about their new books. However, I thought I'd give them a mention and a mini review, as I know some of these kinds of things can be a bit gimmicky and not worth actually buying.

I'll start with Tanya's. Love Tanya is a bit of a weird one. It has sections about Tanya's life, beauty, fashion, hair and makeup and anxiety, and then space for you to write down your own favourites and lists. At first flick through it seems a bit of a jumbled up concept, but when you actually read it, it's really good, and has lots of information in there. I'm not sure I'll ever fill in the lists inside it, but I do think it's a lovely idea to include them. I've read most of it, and I've really enjoyed it so far. It's one of those books that you can pick up and put down at different points, and one I can see myself going back to again and again. I also like that the book has a ribbon inside which you can use as a bookmark (it sounds like a little thing, but it's actually so useful). The verdict on this one then? I'm really impressed, would recommend it, and am definitely glad that I bought it, well done Tanya!

Onto Fleur's book. This is sort of the same but different. Fleurs' The Glam Guide is more of a manual to makeup, hair, fashion and beauty, and contains lots of little tips and tricks for various things. Fleur has also tackled anxiety and self confidence, and has written a section on relationships too. It all sounds very similar to Tanyas, but the two are actually quite different. I'm really pleased that Fleur wrote the whole book herself, and you can really tell that if you've read her blog too. It's quite nostalgic for me, as Fleur was one of the first bloggers I came across and I remember watching her first video of deporting an Urban Decay primer potion, which was what inspired me to start a blog, so it's lovely to see her come so far. Maybe I'll write a book one day too! I also love the layout of this book, and the sections are very clear and again, it's a book you could pick up and put down again. The verdict? Really well written, informative and I'd definitely recommend it!

So there's my opinion on the two latest YouTuber book launches. I think it's very easily for things like this to be over-hyped, so I thought I'd do a review on them. I hope it helped if you're thinking of buying them!

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend! x

Current Everyday Makeup

I decided to film another Get Ready With Me video, which is using some recent re-discoveries from my makeup collection, particularly the BB cream and eyeliner that I've used.

I've been wearing this look a lot recently, so I hope the video helps you if you've been wondering what makeup I've been wearing in some of my previous videos and pictures!

I hope you're all having a lovely week, and as always please give the video a thumbs up and subscribe to my YouTube channel to see my next video which will be on Sunday morning! x

Pink hair.

So, I toned my hair pink again! I did this first at Christmas, but decided to do it again for half term. Now the title says pink hair, but technically mine is more of a pink-toned blonde.

I initially used Washed Up Mermaid from Bleach London, which is a turquoise shade, but it made my hair look very green and I really didn't like it. So I washed it out with the Bleach Washing out liquid and some head and shoulders and it didn't all come out. The Bleach London Rose shampoo and conditioner claimed to banish 'unwanted green tones' so I used them, and along with some Rose colour, it did the trick and I'm now pink instead of green. Much better.

To get my hair this colour, (if you're not getting rid of green) I just apply some of the Bleach London Rose colour after I've washed my hair as normal, leave it for about 10-15 minutes and wash off. As I was getting rid of green, I also used the Rose shampoo and conditioner, which worked really well to give a much more subtle look.

The pink completely washes out after a few washes, and doesn't leave behind any staining or weird tones. However, I really wouldn't recommend the turquoise green unless you're gonna go the whole hog and be Zoe London, which I haven't got the guts (or the right job) for.

The shampoo and conditioner are really good at maintaining the pink tones, and are an alternative to using purple shampoo for blondes. I really like them, and I'll probably re-purchase them.

I'm really loving my pink hair, and will definitely be doing it again the next time I'm on holiday! It's a fun way to get pink hair and I love the results. I also haven't had any damage to my hair from them. My hair is naturally blonde and I have bleached highlights, so the colour works well on my hair, although it works better on the bleached sections.

If you're thinking of experimenting with pink hair, or are just curious, I hope this post helped! x

February Birchbox.

February is almost over and I haven't shared my Birchbox! As usual I'm sharing the goodies that came in my box this month, and my thoughts on them! Also by now, you probably know I'm a big fan of Birchbox, and am rarely disappointed!

I'm really pleased to see the Oats and Chia in here. I actually bought some Chia seeds from Birchbox, and these are the same brand, so I'm excited to try them, plus I love porridge!

Liz Earle is one of my all time favourite brands, and I swear by their Cleanse and Polish. I haven't tried any of their haircare before though, so I'm excited to give this botanical shine shampoo a go!

I've never heard of the London Butterflies, but I love the packaging of this bath salt scrub, and it smells great too!

I've had a couple of Wild about Beauty products before, that have been good but not mind-blowing. This serum is full size, and I love that it has a pump applicator. I'm not currently using a serum in my Skincare routine, but I'm excited to try this one out!

This silver eyeliner pencil from  Cynthia Rowley beauty is beautiful. It's very pigmented and has a beautiful sparkle! And now that I've photographed it, I can use it! I did swatch it though, and the formula seemed really long lasting! The packaging is also really cute!

Last but not least is a Stainiac stain from The Balm. This reminds me of Benetint, it has a similar consistency and you use it the same. I do like the little bottle, and this one has a doe foot applicator, which I personally prefer to Benefit's little nail polish style brush.

As usual, I'm really impressed with the box this month. The serum alone is worth £22 so it's another great value box in my opinion. Click here to get yours!

Hope you're all well! x

Tom Ford Coco Ravish.

Tom Ford lipsticks are probably the most expensive and most luxurious lipsticks you can buy. At £37 each they are certainly not something I buy a lot, but when I do, it's always a good day.

I've only ever owned one TF lipstick before in the shade Nude Vanille. I bought it when I was in Liverpool for a uni trip, and to cut a long story short, it had been a stressful day, and I wanted a treat. I've worn it a lot since then, and always think to myself that it's my new favourite lipstick.

So when I was on a mission for a brown lipstick, and MAC were all sold out, I found myself at the Tom Ford counter, and picked up Coco Ravish, which is a beautiful pinky brown shade. The formula and scent are exactly the same as Nude Vanille, as is the lovely TF engraving on the tip of the lipstick.

The shade itself is exactly what I wanted, and I've been obsessed with it ever since I bought it!
The photographs give an idea of what it looks like on, but don't quite do it justice!

Have you got any Tom Ford lipsticks in your collection? x

Mr Selfridge Costumes.

I went to a craft fair a couple of weeks ago, and randomly came across a Mr Selfridge costumes exhibition. It was a totally random thing to find at a craft fair, but I love the Mr Selfridge series, and love seeing costumes, especially from period dramas, as they're my favourite!
I don't normally blog about costumes or anything, but these were really amazing, and I couldn't resist taking a few photos to share with you all!
These costumes are all from past seasons, and are from the main characters: Mr Selfridge, Rose Selfridge, Lady Loxley, Agnes Towler, Kitty and I can't remember who the fur one belonged to! The costumes are so beautifully made, and look really authentic too!
The costumes also looked really well-worn too!
I hope you enjoyed seeing the photos of the costumes, I certainly enjoyed looking at them! If not, don't worry, I'm not turning into a costume blogger, it's just a one off!
Hope you're all having a great week so far! x

An Italian meal with friends.

I had a lovely catchup with friends last week over dinner at Monte Cristo, which is a local(ish) Italian restaurant. Seeing as I'm experimenting with more lifestyle posts, I decided to take a few photos on my phone to share with you all! I really enjoy going out for meals, and it's such a lovely way to meet friends I don't see very often.

I had a starter of Garlic bread with cheese which I shared as it was huge, but delicious! For my main, I went with the vegetarian pizza with added black olives. I'm a huge pizza fan, and I always have either a margarita, or a vegetable pizza and always black olives, as I love them! For desert, as the calories had already gone out of the window after all the pizza, I went with the chocolate waffle, which was more of an ice cream dessert, but still delicious!

Italian is actually my favourite cuisine, and I'm always happy to go out for an Italian meal!

Hope you're all having a lovely day! x

Weekend GRWM

Happy Sunday everyone! I filmed a little Weekend Get Ready with me for you all! I originally thought of filming a morning skincare video, but my routine is so simple I thought it might be a little boring, so I turned it into a GRWM video instead!

I hope you enjoy it, and as always, please like the video and subscribe to my channel if you're not already! xx

Laura Mercier Oil Free Foundation Primer.

I've been wanting to try the Laura Mercier Oil Free Foundation Primer for a while now, as I always see and hear other bloggers using and raving about it. However, it's not a cheap product at £29, and I only decided to get it as my Birchbox points had mounted up and I'd got £20 to spend in their online shop.

Firstly, you get a lot of product with this (50ml) and you only need a little bit when you use it. I go through phases of using a primer, and I tend to flick between using one and not. I haven't noticed a huge amount of increased longevity with this primer, but what I have noticed is how smooth my skin looks when I've used this.

Even though it's oil free, the formula isn't at all drying and is perfect for my sensitive combination skin. It works really well at keeping the shine away, and gives the perfect base for almost any foundation. Basically, this primer just makes your skin look and feel great.

Recently I've not been using any foundation, and have been just using this, my Origins Vitazing moisturiser, concealer, and my NARS translucent powder, which I've really been enjoying as my skin has been weirdly clear recently. I've been loving the combination as it looks incredibly natural and lasts really well throughout the day.

I've always been impressed with Laura Mercier products, and this one hasn't let me down either!

Ps. Happy Valentine's day!!

Map My Heart.

Valentine's day is coming up, and I thought for the first time ever, I'd dedicate a blog post to something Valentine's themed. This is a book by Dom n Ink, who I met at a blogger event back in November (you may have seen his amazing illustration of me already). I bought this book back in December and have been thinking of how best to blog about it since, and thought Valentine's day was a pretty good fit.

I haven't filled mine in yet, but it's an interactive dating journal, that's really funny and has some brilliant illustrations. If you're stuck for a Valentine's day present, or like me, if you're single but just like quirky books like this, I'm sure you'll love it!

I think there's a bit of something for everyone in Map My Heart, there's some bits to read, places to draw, illustrations, little activities, and they're all based around dating. The thing I think is most unique about this book is that there's literally a section for everyone, no matter what your relationship status. I also especially love the unicorn patterned page.

I'm a big fan of books that you can pick up and put down at any point, or can simply flick through when you're relaxing, and this one is just like that. If you like journalling, or books like the wreck this journal, then I'm sure you'll enjoy filling this one in too.

So whether you're trying to find the perfect gift, planning something fun with friends, or spending the day by yourself, this book will no doubt keep you amused!

As with all cool books, it's available at Urban Outfitters (inthe US!), as well as book shops and Huck and Pucker (linked above) here in the uk !

Hope you're all having a wonderful day too!

xx

p.s Dom, great job! x

The Great Frog Wishlist.

After my posts on my new ring from The Great Frog, and my most worn jewellery, you might have gathered that I'm a little bit obsessed with TGF, so I decided to put together a wishlist of some of my other favourite pieces from there. This post isn't sponsored at all - I just really love their jewellery!

I'm thinking the cat ring will be nice as a little finger ring because it's really cute, the bull is so detailed, and I love that it's not a skull version as it's a bit different. The goat head bangle is right up my street, as I love simple bangles, and it would match nicely with the rings!

The rose ring is a more elegant option I think, but is still a lovely statement piece. The little rose band would make a lovely thumb ring, or just a ring to layer up with some of my other favourites. Last but not least, the small kudu ring, which sunbeamsjess made me fall in love with. It's really big, but I'm a big fan of it!

I can't wait to add to my Great Frog collection, but I still haven't decided which piece will be next! What do you think? x

Favourite Face Masks.

I've mentioned these masks a lot over on my Youtube channel but I thought I'd dedicate a post to them!

Firstly, the Aesop parsley seed mask. This has been a favourite of mine for a long time now, it's perfect for blemishes, acne, blocked pores and oily skin. It also does wonders for the texture of my skin and just generally clears it up and leaves it looking fresh and healthy. The scent is very herby and smells 'healthy' if that makes sense, which is kind of a recurring theme for all of these masks!

The Eve Lom Rescue mask is a good all-rounder. It's the most expensive of the bunch, and I find it doesn't make a big difference for spots. However, it's really good for cleaning the skin, and is very effective at exfoliating the skin. The scent is herbal and quite strong, but I really like this one, I wasn't sure at first, but through determination to use it up (and not waste my money) I've actually grown to love it!

The origins Clear improvement mask and the Out of Trouble mask, are both excellent for blocked pores, breakouts, redness (from acne/breakouts) and improving skin texture. I alternate between these two regularly and can't pick a favourite really. They're both scented really herbal, which I find relaxing, and both make a massive improvement to my skin. If you're struggling with breakouts, I'd definitely recommend these.

Last but not least is the Origins Overnight Drink Up intensive mask. This one I use after I've used any of the other 4. You apply it to clean skin, and leave it overnight. I usually apply an acne cream in the evenings (more as a prevention than anything else) but I don't use that when I use this mask. The mask is basically a very intense moisturiser and leaves my skin feeling super soft and looking amazing. It doesn't break me out or anything either, and has a beautiful citrus scent. The only thing that might be a negative is that it can feel a little bit greasy on the skin, but I personally don't mind that as I love the results so much!

What are your favourite masks?

Karl Lagerfeld Bag Collection

If you've seen my January Favourites video, you'll have noticed this new Karl Lagerfeld shopper bag, that I picked up from TK Maxx. It was a complete bargain, and you all know I love KL, so naturally, I couldn't resist it!

It's from the same collection as my KARL embossed bag, which I bought from Harvey Nichols back around September time I think, and actually paid more for than the bigger one at TK Maxx. I've photographed both so that you can see the differences between them!

Now I've never found Karl Lagerfeld in TK Maxx before, but I was so glad to find this bag in there! It's actually huge, and can fit loads of stuff in, so will be perfect for a day out, or if I need to take my camera, Laptop or iPad somewhere. You could also use it for work too, but I have a thing about putting my nice bags on the floor!

I absolutely love the Zip detailing on my new bag, which is similar to the sides of my little Karl bag, but I think the two are different enough! The smaller bag also doesn't fasten at the top (it has a zipped pocket inside), whereas the bigger one has a zipper all the way across the top of the bag. There are pockets inside both bags, and the lining is exactly the same.

I'm thinking of doing a What's in my Bag video featuring one of these, so if you're interested in that, be sure to let me know!

I've looked online to find both bags and they seem to be out of stock everywhere, but I'd have a look in TK Maxx if you are looking for them, as you never know what gems you'll find in there!

What do you think of my new bag? x

Five Favourite Face Brushes

Finding the perfect makeup brushes can be a confusing and lengthy process, an I thought that some of you may be looking for new brushes, or might just be starting to build up your collection, so I decided to do a little edit of my five favourite brushes for base products: foundation, concealer, blush, highlight, contour and bronzer.
I think just about every blogger has this brush, and I'll be honest, I have 3. I like to use a clean foundation brush every day, and having 3 (and other brushes) means I don't have to constantly wash brushes! The shape of the buffing brush is unique, I've not found any others like it, and it just applies foundation and concealer perfectly. I've used it with loads of different base products, all varying in consistency, coverage and finish, and it's never let me down.
Day to day, I'll just blend in my concealer with the buffing brush, but when I'm taking a bit more time, or have used my hands to apply my base products, I'll use this little brush for concealer. I find it to be the perfect size: not too big, not too small, and it just applies concealer really well. It does also work well for contouring, it's intended use, but I personally prefer something else for that.
This one's good for both powder and bronzer. It's good for loose or pressed powders too. I use it for my everyday powder, but in summer I sometimes use it for bronzer too, to add an all over glow. It's a really soft brush too.

I bought this to use with my Filmstar bronze and glow from Charlotte Tilbury, and it's just the best contour brush I've ever used. It's the perfect size, picks up the right amount of product, and the application is really natural. That's also down to her bronze and highlight duo, but I do love the brush with other products too. It's also great for highlighter!
This was one of the first brushes I ever owned. I remember going to MAC in Selfridges and buying a bronzer, mineralise skin finish and this brush in my first year at uni. I absolutely loved it then, and still love it now! I use it for blush too, which it also works really well for!
So that's my little edit of face brushes, if you'd like me to do a similar edit with other brushes, just let me know!
Hope you're all having a lovely day! x

JanuaryFavourites

It's already the end of January, so of course its time for my first monthly favourites video of 2015! I really hope that you enjoy it, and let me know what you've been loving this month!

Hope you've all had a fabulous weekend! xx
