Money Saving tips.

We all know I love to shop. But I like to think I'm a savvy shopper, and there's nothing I love more than a good discount, so I thought I'd share my money-saving tips with you!

I'll start with the obvious Boots Advantage card. This is amazing, you collect points on everything you buy, which mount up (pretty quickly) and you can then exchange them for products up to the value of your points. I've currently got £30 on mine! Boots also send out coupons in the post, and you can print them from machines in-store. These are great as they're usually either for money off products, or to get additional points!

I also love the N Dulge card from Space NK, which is another points card. Every time you spend £100 in store or online, you receive a £5 reward. Sounds like a lot to spend, but it really doesn't take long in Space NK. I also like the Debenhams beauty card which works similarly, but I don't usually shop in Debenhams so it takes me longer to build up points. Super drug also have a loyalty card, which again, I don't use often, but you need one to be able to get NUS discount.

NUS card. If you're a student, you NEEED this! It's my last year of being able to have one of these, but they get you discounts everywhere, including free food at McDonalds. They're £11 to buy, but soon pay for themselves.

The Body Shop card gives you 10% off purchases, and is free for students. Otherwise I think it's £5 to join, but you do get a free gift. You also collect stamps on the back, which eventually turns into more money-off.

Elle magazine is fantastic for offers, but the subscription, and the ELLE insider card is where it's at. There's loads of offers with this including 25% off at Toni&Guy, money off in various stores each month, and the subscribers get more discount than if you buy the copy in-store. The subscription also saves on the cost of the magazine, so it really is a no-brainer.

John Lewis and Waitrose also do good reward cards. Waitrose gives you a free tea or coffee every day, plus money off your grocery shopping. John Lewis send you vouchers for either money off, or free cakes!

Costa is also a good card. I used to work there and it drove me mad when people didn't use them! You collect points (like a boots card) and then can redeem them for free food and drinks.

So, if you're not using some of these cards and coupons, I'd recommend trying them! Most are free and really do make a difference, I've saved a fortune!

Orange OOTD.

Vintage shirt from Urban Outfitters
Primark black leggings
Michael Kors orange cross body bag (similar)

I'm loving orange lately, if you couldn't already tell that! These supercolors attract so much attention when I wear them, but they're super comfortable and I love them! I've also been loving my new Michael Kors orange bag which I picked up at Cheshire Oaks, and I'm also wearing one of my new vintage shirts from Urban Outfitters, they're so easy to wear and style, and the oversized ones are great to throw on with leggings. I paired it with some of my favourite jewellery items, which are just my usual rings, The Great frog rings, Michael Kors watch, whistles bracelet and H&M necklace.

April Birchbox.

You all know I love getting my Birchbox every month, and this month's box is a special box in honour of the Royal Baby! It was also a 'choose your sample' month with 3 Laura Mercier options. I went for the primer, as I thought it would be good to try it and compare it to the oil-free version I'm currently using.

The nail polish from Lola Barcelona is really pretty, I posted an instagram picture of it when I first tried it - it's such a pretty summery shade. Also in the box is a Percy & Reed no oil oil, which I'm excited to try on my shorter hair as it's supposed to be very weightless. I also got the Korres bergamot pear body milk, Befine warming clay mask, and the Bliss Fabulous foaming face wash. I'm always wary of trying new cleansers/face washes as I'm so loyal to my Liz Earle, but this one sounds good so I'll give it a go! I've had a few Korres products before and really liked them, and seeing as I'll have to start prepping for the fake tan again, I'll be needing some body moisturiser!

I'm always impressed with my Birchboxes, and this month hasn't disappointed me. Birch box doesn't always have full-size or large samples, but the products are always things I actually use, which is why  I'm a loyal subscriber!

Have you got the April Birchbox?

Giraffe.

Primark black jeggings

This outfit is all new things, and I'm so pleased with them all. I'm loving my new Levi's denim waistcoat (that I showed in my Cheshire Oaks haul on Sunday) and this new H&M shirt (that I showed in the haul video before that). I think this shirt is really versatile as I can wear it casually (as I have here) or I can wear it for work. It was only £12.99 and I love the Giraffe print. My shoes are my JustFab UK pick for April and they're so Valentino esque - just like the ones I was lusting after last Summer!

Spring Nail Polish Picks.

I usually wear my Red Carpet Manicure Gel nail polish, but recently (over my Easter holidays) I've been giving my nails a break, and have been using 'normal' nail polish again. I've rediscovered some old favourites and also a new one, so I thought I'd do a little Spring round up of my favourites!

The majority of these are all from Nails inc. The two with silver lids are from the Alexa Chung collection and are Uptown (pink) and Battersea Park (green). These two are pretty much wear-anytime shades for me as they're colours but are pretty neutral at the same time. The formula of these is amazing, they're long wearing and apply really well. I also love the packaging - I really can't fault these at all.

The other 3 Nails inc picks are from the Gel Effect line. They are: Lexington Gardens (purple), Hyde Park Place (Light grey) and Porchester Square (Nude beige). The formula, application, packaging and brush on these is amazing, I literally love these polishes, they're my all-time favourites as they're just so good! Porchester Square is easily my most-worn shade as it's just so easy and wears really well. Hyde Park Place is similar but is a grey and equally as beautiful and chic on the nails. Lexington Gardens is a bright purple, that I always get loads of compliments on every time I wear it!

Next is a drugstore offering from Rimmel. This is the Rita Ora polish in Oragina. This is a beautiful bright pastel orange, that looks so spring/summer to me. The only thing I don't like about this one is the lasting time, as it only lasted a couple of days before it chipped. However these are very affordable and there are some beautiful pastel shades to choose from.

Last but not least is my Illamasqua speckled nail polish. These were limited edition a couple of years ago, and are so pretty for the spring. I have a few of these, and love them all, but I included the mint for this selection as mint is such a pretty spring shade!

So those are my Spring Nail Polish Picks, have you tried any of them? x

Saturday 18 April 2015

Seventies Supercolor.

Primark Raincoat
Primark black jeggings

I genuinely thought I'd be the last person to try the Seventies trend. I really hated it for so long, but something (okay it's Megan Ellaby and her blog) have made me grow to love it. After wearing this top, I'm so obsessed with it now, probably because this top is so comfortable and effortless.

Another new thing for me is colour. Straying away from my monochrome and denim I'm wearing a yellow raincoat, and bright orange Supercolor trainers! I know right, what is happening? I strangely really enjoyed wearing colour this day, so who knows, maybe you'll see a bit more colour on here!

This yellow raincoat was a bargain at £18 and I love it! The jeggings were just £7 and although they aren't great quality and probably won't last very long, they are comfortable and are definitely worth the money, I just wish they were high-waisted.

I also love that I've finally found a good place to take outfit photos, although it's weather permitting the neighbours' wall is working really well!

Hope you all have a great weekend - theres a haul going up tomorrow on my Youtube channel! x

Urban Decay Naked Basics 2

I thought I'd do a little one-off Friday post today - I never normally post on Fridays but I thought seeing as my Easter holidays are coming to an end even though I wish they weren't, and also to celebrate 300 bloglovin followers on my Wordpress blog (THANKYOU!) I'd do a little bonus blog post!

I picked up the Urban Decay Naked Basics 2 palette this week, and have already filmed a makeup look/tutorial which will be up on my YouTube channel next Thursday. But I thought, before you see that, I'd do a little blog post of the un-used pretty looking palette!

I should start off by saying that I don't have the original Naked Basics palette, but I do own the Naked 2 and Naked 3 (I still haven't got Naked 1 or Naked Basics 1). I like the idea of these basics palettes as sometimes, the Naked palettes can be a bit overwhelming, especially if you're trying to be quick/ in a rush in the mornings. The basics aren't as cost-effective as the originals though, they're £23 for 6 shades, whereas the original palettes are £38 for 12 shades.

The main difference in the shades between the basics palette and the original is that there is only 1 shimmer shade in this palette. The lightest shade, Skimp, has a slight shimmer to it, but all the rest are matte. The shades Cover and Primal and Undone could also be used for brows depending on what shade you are (I'd probably use primal).

After using these shadows I'm pretty impressed. Urban Decay's eyeshadows are always amazingly pigmented, blend easily, last well and are just easy to use. These matte shadows are great for an everyday look, but can be smoked out using the darkest shade. I think they're very wearable, and I can see myself getting a lot of use out of this palette. I also think they'd work very well with other shadows, especially with palettes that lack a few matte shades. And of course, for travelling, this is a much better option than the original Naked as it's much smaller.

The packaging is simple but I much prefer it to the other Naked palettes I own. Overall I'm impressed with this palette, and if you want to see how I've used it, don't forget to be subscribed to my YouTube channel so that you don't miss next Thursday's tutorial video!

On the topic of followers/subscribers, thank you to everyone who follows/ subscribes to me, when I reach a bigger number (probably 1000 on my bloglovin and youtube) I will be doing a giveaway (if you guys are interested)!

Also, please let me know if you follow both this blog and my wordpress, and if you do, which you prefer as I'm thinking of going back to just wordpress so let me know :)

Have a great weekend! x

Boho Waves Hair Tutorial

It's been a while since my last hair tutorial, and feeling inspired by my new short hair and the SS15 seventies/boho trends, I created a hairstyle of waves with a few curls - perfect for a quick fix! I've been wearing this style a lot recently, and I really hope that you enjoy the video! Please subscribe to my YouTube channel too if you haven't already! x

Wednesday 15 April 2015

Victoria's Secret Coconut Passion.

I'm not normally a body spray person, but I think this may have converted me. My mum actually got this, but she didn't like the scent so she gave it to me. I'm absolutely obsessed with the stuff. I've been spritzing this on in the morning and throughout the day (when I've been at home) and I just love it. The fragrance lasts a really long time, which is pretty unusual for a body spray.
I also love the coconut scent of this. I'm not usually a sweet-scent person when it comes to fragrance, but this has completely changed my mind! It also smells amazing when worn with my YSL pink opium fragrance.
The mist is infused with Aloe Vera and Chamomile so it's kind so skin too, and hasn't given me any irritations. I'll definitely be having a look in the fragrance section next time I'm in a Victoria's Secret as I'm really impressed with this!

Dungarees & Double Denim.

Primark t-shirt
Karl Lagerfeld bag

Following my ultimate-fail to show you these dungarees in my recent haul, I thought I'd do an outfit post to properly do them justice! I love these dungarees as they're on trend, but being black denim, are a bit more subtle. I rolled up mine as they are really long, and I just prefer them rolled up!

Underneath I'm wearing my Primark tee which was only £3, and over it I'm wearing my new Urban Outfitters Urban Renewal vintage denim shirt, which I got in-store for £10. I love the vintage section in UO, and bought a few shirts recently that I love.

I'm also wearing my trusty white converse, and on this day I was using my Karl Lagerfeld KARL embossed bag. My jewellery is the same as usual!

Hope you're all having a lovely day! x

New hair.

I should have probably used the cliche title: Short hair. Don't care. But the thing is, I do care about my hair, a lot.

I've been debating going shorter on and off for over a year now, and I keep chickening out and keeping it long. I loved my long hair, but I found it so difficult to style as my hair is very thick, course and is hard to style generally. This is the shortest I've had my hair in a long time, I had a bob when I was a lot younger, but I wanted more of a long bob that still gave me plenty of styling options, including a messy bun for those days when I just haven't got time.

I went to a new hairdressers after much thinking and reading reviews I went to Toni&Guy on Mosley street (Manchester). My hairdresser was Beth and she was brilliant, she did both my colour and cut and I couldn't be more pleased with it. I'd taken loads of pictures of cuts, colours and styles and she did exactly what I asked for. I normally come out of a salon thinking 'It's okay' but not this time, I was really pleased with my hair, and didn't feel like I needed to re-do it, or anything like I usually do. If you're in Manchester, I'd highly recommend Beth and the Mosley st salon.

I've curled it a little bit in these photos as it had dropped a little overnight. I used my Lee Stafford wave wand just to create some messy waves.

My cut is all one length, but the ends have been chopped in a little so that the ends aren't too blunt. My colour is all over highlights done with a bleach, and a natural blonde shade (very similar to my natural colour). The highlights are very fine, and I have them all over. I've also had a toner on it to give it that ashy look, that I've wanted for so long!

I couldn't be more pleased with my hair, which is definitely a first for me!

What do you think of my new hair? x

Top 5 Luxury Makeup Products

After yesterday's post of current favourite Drugstore products, I thought I'd do a top 5 luxury make products video. The world of high-end beauty can be daunting, and let's face it, you don't want to spend all your money on something that you're not going to love.
So if you're thinking of treating yourself, or wondering what I'd recommend, then I hope this video helps you!
Just remember that although these are my favourites, I'm not suggesting you need them, or that they'll be your favourites. I'd also recommend trying products in-store if you can before splurging on a luxury item! x

Wednesday 8 April 2015

Current Drugstore Makeup Favourites.

L'Oreal Infallible matte foundation , Bourjois healthy balance powder, Maybelline Eye eraser concealer, Maybelline brow drama, Max Factor creme puff blush, Maybelline Gel eyeliner, Collection eyes uncovered nude grey palette.

So tomorrow's video is going to be a top 5 luxury makeup products, so I thought I'd counteract that with a drugstore favourites post. I've featured all of these in videos before, either in a haul, favourites or a GRWM, but haven't talked about them all on the blog!

I've been using the L'Oreal foundation now for about 3 weeks, and am absolutely loving it, I just wish it came in a lighter shade, as this one is slightly too dark for me. The application, finish and lasting power of this is really great, and it looks natural, which is always good!

The maybelline eye eraser has been in my everyday makeup for months now, the one in the picture is actually my new replacement that I'm just about to open! It's the perfect moisturising under-ehe concealer that covers dark circles, and lasts all day! I have really dry under-eyes as well, and this works perfectly for me.

To set everything, I've been using (and loving) the Bourjois healthy balance powder, which I can't believe I haven't tried sooner. It's a lot more affordable than the powders I'm used to using, and works just as well. Plus, it's a very skinny compact, with a really good mirror!

On my cheeks I've been loving the Max Factor creme puff blush, which I have a whole post on the blog comparing it to the Hourglass ambient lighting blushes.

I haven't used any gel liner for the last few days, but my favourite one is definitely the Maybelinne one. I use it with an angled brush, and find it super-easy to use. This one is the shade black gold, which is basically a shimmery black.

I couldn't not mention the gorgeous Collection nude palette in this post. I've written a post all about this, but it's just so great for the price!

What have you been loving from the drugstore recently?

A Spring Outfit.

Warehouse jeans
The Great Frog rings - Ghost warrior & rose

It feels like ages since I last did an outfit post! I used to love doing outfit posts, and I still do, but I really struggle to get good photos as I can't find a good lighting and camera set up at home! Anyway, I really wanted to show you this outfit, as I loved wearing it, and it features some of my new favourite items!

The jeans and tee I showed in this haul video, as I picked them up at a Warehouse event. I'm absolutely in love with the jeans, they're skinny but are more relaxed than my Topshop Joni's and are perfect for weekends. I also think they are really flattering and are a good length. I really struggle to find well fitting jeans as my legs are just like tree trunks - honestly I really hate them, but these are perfect! And of course the top is so me - oversized, stripy and long-sleeved!

The jacket I got from H&M online (sorry it's so creased - I hadn't realised it was that creased!) and of course I bought it for the eagle on the back! I love eagles (which dates back to my Pocahontas obsession) , and couldn't resist this! I got it with a 25% off code they had too, so it was really affordable. I often really don't suit beige, but I think I can just about get away with this!

My jewellery is the same as I always wear - my rings that were from my mum, my Great frog rings, and my Michael Kors watch. And seeing as it wasn't raining (for once) I wore my old favourite white converse!

Jewellery Maker Star Charm Bracelet Kit

How beautiful is this rose gold star bracelet? I love a bit of rose gold, and when the lovely people at Jewellery maker asked if I'd like to try one of their bracelet kits, I saw this one and instantly fell in love with it. It's such a beautiful piece, and reminds me of something you'd find in a high end store.

I've made jewellery before, but with life being as hectic as it is, I haven't made anything for a long time. I really enjoyed last weekend having a couple hours to myself making this bracelet, as it was so relaxing, and even better, the end result is a gorgeous wearable bracelet!

The kit itself retails for £9.95 and comes with everything you need (apart from pliers) to make the bracelet. The findings, charms and chain is really good quality, and I also had loads left over when I'd finished that you could easily make another bracelet from if you bought some more fastenings.

I haven't done a tutorial because I really did't need to, but you can see me making the kit in the photos above. There were full instructions in the box, and they were really easy to follow. Normally, instructions and me just don't work, but these were great, and had pictures too!

I'm absolutely thrilled with my bracelet, and can't believe it looks so professional! I especially love the heart clasp as it means I can put the bracelet on myself without fiddling with a traditional clasp. The bracelet is lightweight too, so is comfortable to wear. If you struggle finding bracelets to fit perfectly, this is great, because you can make the bracelet as long as you like! I just cut the chain with some wire cutters (from my plier set) when I'd made it long enough, and then simply attached a jump ring and the other end of the fastener.

Once you master opening and closing jump rings (which is easy) you can make this bracelet. The kit is perfect for beginners as it's easy, affordable and has everything you need! All you'd need is a pliers set and you're good to go. I made use of my old bead board (that I've had for ages!) to stop the small pieces moving around, but you really don't need one.

I'm really pleased with this little kit, and would definitely recommend it. If this one isn't your thing, the Jewellery Maker website has a great selection of other kits in all different styles and metals. I think this kit would make a lovely gift, or even just a treat to yourself for something to do! If you're off school, college, uni or work for the Easter holidays, this would be perfect for a chilled-out day, and you'll have a great bracelet to wear when you've finished!

I hope you're all enjoying the bank holiday Easter weekend so far! x

*PR sample. The bracelet kit was sent to me for free from Jewellery Maker, however this post is not sponsored, and I am under no obligation to publish a positive review. I would never recommend a product that I wouldn't be happy to purchase myself, as that would just be dishonest.

Shajan Indian Restaurant

Last Friday, I went out for a lovely meal with some friends. We had a great time catching up, and of course I took some quick snaps of the food to share with you all! We went to a local-ish Indian restaurant called Shajan, and it was absolutely amazing food!

We had some poppadoms to start with, but I completely forgot to photograph them! For my main I had Vegetable Biryani with a mild sauce, which was delicious. There was loads of it though, so I actually brought half of it home and had it the next day!

For desert I had the Orange sorbet, which was served in an actual orange peel! It was delicious! My mum had a caramel and almond desert, which I borrowed for the picture!

I'd definitely go again to Shajan, as the food was amazing, and it wasn't too expensive either!
